An artwork in July 2006 saw me folding paperbags in the hundreds. These little bags eventually formed an installation during an exhibition.

They’re fbags. In each one of them, I left an item that possibly defined female. Viewers of the artwork were encouraged to take a bag and throw in something of their own before adding their bag to the installation. Soon an accumulation of assorted female paraphernalia; from potpourri, a sticky note with a feminist quote and an extra safe condom surfaced in the bags.

Now that this project has been stalled for two years, I thought it might be fun to play with the fbags again. Maybe this would take on a larger scale? So to whoever you are, make an fbag, insert (or penetrate – kinky!) what you please. If you’ll like to take part in this project, leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you with the address to send your little bags to!

Just follow these illustrated instructions!

Materials:
A pair of scissors (or a penknife will do just fine)
A roll of scotch tape.

1. Print your fbag onto an A4 sheet. Cut along the dotted lines and throw excess strips away.

2. Fold along the indicated pink lines for mark-making.

3. Fold point 1 towards point 2, point 3 towards point 4.

4. Fold on the required markings so your bag now looks like this:

5. Flip to the back and seal the sides with some tape (as seen with pink strip). Proceed to fold bottom of the bag upwards.

6. Do a little pocket thingy on both sides…

7. Then fold the flaps inwards.

8. Seal the bottom of the bag with a piece of tape.

9. Your finished fbag should look like this! (Of course this is after tucking in the required folds!)

Now to get started, drop me a comment and I’ll send over a high-resolution jpg of the fbag!
